This past March featured Mother’s Day in Egypt. Our Egyptian lighthouses honored the mothers in their local communities with a fun celebration.
Our team in Bakeer recently spent time ministering to over 40 women with Pastor S, a local Egyptian Pastor supported by Horizons. Pastor S used biblical examples to share on the importance of being a mother, and how valuable they are within the family and society today. After the message, the women were filled with great joy when our staff handed out Coleman water jugs as gifts. The bottles will help keep their water supply cold and fresh for their families to enjoy.
Our lighthouse in Shousha held a service honoring all of the mothers as well. There were 20 women in attendance, and each of them received prayer and encouragement. The service included a message about God’s love which brought hope to each of the women.
At the same time, the Shousha lighthouse hosted an event filled with games, songs, and dancing for over 40 orphans. The children enjoyed the games, but also the opportunity to hear about God’s goodness.
Continue to Pray for Egypt and our Lighthouses
Our lighthouses fulfill needs through humanitarian aid and heal hurting hearts through prayer, counseling, and the gospel message of Jesus. We ask for prayer that God will continue to touch everyone who has heard the message of His love. As of today, Islam makes up 95% of the entire population of Egypt, but every day is another chance to share Jesus’ heart with someone who has never heard.
